It is believed that following his triumphant victory over Ravana, Lord Rama sought absolution at this very temple, making it an essential pilgrimage site for Ramayana enthusiasts. As per legend, Lord Rama himself installed the Ramalinga Shivan, which remains a testament to his devotion and penance for killing Ravana. Journeying onward from Chilaw towards picturesque Kandy, nestled amidst lush hills, we will be greeted by awe-inspiring scenery that exemplifies Sri Lanka’s rich cultural legacy at every turn along our 4.5-hour drive. As we reach Kandy, our journey will lead us to the illustrious Temple of the Tooth Relic, an esteemed sanctuary that safeguards a sacred Buddhist relic. Following this enlightening visit, a leisurely stroll around Kandy Lake awaits, it’s tranquilly soothing the soul as traditional Kandyan dance performances enthral the senses. With check-in complete at your centrally located hotel in Kandy, indulge in an exquisite dinner boasting flavoursome local cuisine—a culinary treat you won’t soon forget. Before embarking on our journey to the misty highland town of Nuwara Eliya, known as ‘Little England ‘ take the time to enjoy a lovely early morning breakfast. This delightful 2.5-hour drive will transport us through breath-taking scenery and bring us to our destination. Along the way, we will make a stop at the magnificent Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens spanning an impressive 147 acres. This tropical paradise showcases over 4,000 plant species, including a stunning collection of orchids. Our next stop will be at the Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple, where legends tell us that Lord Hanuman himself rested during his quest to find Sita. Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya situated at an elevation of 6,000 feet in Sri Lanka’s enchanting hill country, you will be greeted by cool and refreshing temperatures. The picturesque town holds an undeniable charm with its colonial architecture and gabled roofs that transport you straight into an English village setting. As evening falls upon us take the opportunity to immerse yourself in this quaint haven and wander through its captivating rose gardens.  Overnight stay at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

After enjoying breakfast in the early morning, we will embark on a journey to follow in the footsteps of Lord Rama in Nuwara Eliya. Our main focus will be exploring ancient sites that hold significance in the epic Ramayana. The first stop on day 3 is the Sita Amman Temple, where it is believed that Goddess Sita proved her purity through a trial by fire. This temple holds great historical and cultural value. Moving forward, we will then visit the Divurumpola Temple, which is said to mark the very spot where Sita faced her ‘Agni Pariksha’. Additionally, this temple also houses ancient statues of Lord Rama and Sita. Adding to its spiritual charm and significance Continuing on our spiritual journey, we will also make a stop at Gayathri Peedam, an important site associated with Vibhishana’s coronation as King of Lanka by Lord Lakshmana. After fully immersing ourselves in spirituality and mythological history throughout the day, you will return to your hotel in Nuwara Eliya for a delicious dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.

Following a delicious morning breakfast, we begin our journey towards an exploration lasting 4.5 hours to discover the locations linked to King Ravana from the famous Hindu epic Ramayana. This is a jungle region where, as per belief, Ravana detained Sita and imprisoned her. The adventure unveils eye-catching landscapes with foggy peaks and grand water cascades. Arriving in Ella, you will be welcomed by the breathtaking Ravana Ella Falls. They elegantly cascade down jagged cliffs into peaceful pools at the bottom. Nearby, we will discover the Cave associated with Ravana, believed to be the concealed location of Ravana. This is even the spot where he encountered failure in the grip of King Rama. These extraordinary natural wonders allow us to envision a time when deities and demons dwelled in the rich jungles of Sri Lanka. Continuing onwards towards Colombo—Sri Lanka’s bustling economic capital—we expect to reach our desired location by afternoon. After settling into your selected hotel accommodation, ample opportunity ‌awaits you for an unhurried exploration of the city’s rich tapestry of historical and cultural attractions. We will spend the night in Colombo.

After breakfast and check-out, our representative will escort you to the airport. The one-hour transfer bids you farewell. You will take home memories of temple towns, highlands and places linked to the Ramayana epic during our Ramayana Journey.
